The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulates pay, record keeping and child labor, and employers who violate the FSLA can face lawsuits or fines. FLSA-related lawsuits are the most common labor lawsuit, resulting in over 8,000 cases per year. To diminish these disputes, employer knowledge and execution of the law is the first defense.
This online training course reviews the differences between exempt and non-exempt employees and provides examples of exempt employee classifications. Minimum wage, overtime, and independent contractor work is also discussed in this course. Accurately recording hours worked is strongly emphasized in this course. Viewers also learn about the age requirements for labor and how the FLSA protects minors.
