Networking Essentials: Active Directory
What is Active Directory, and what is a directory in general? Active Directory has been the directory service for Windows operating systems since the introduction of Windows 2000. It, like any directory, is a repository of information, including user accounts, group accounts, and more. There is a defined structure, including the root object (the forest) and the blueprint for the objects you can add as well as their characteristics (the schema). This course helps employees understand the complexities of Active Directory.
This course explores several key components of Active directory, including the functionality of domains and the forest, main Active Directory administration tools, file servers, group policy, creating user accounts, and file sharing and management. For example, what would you do if you needed to add something to the Active Directory schema, such as a new e-mail server? You would need to know how to use the administrative tools to view the schema at the forest to accomplish this task. This course demonstrates how to do just that.
Use this course to help employees master Active Directory, and furthermore better manage and maintain an organization’s network.
