HAZWOPER: Respiratory Protection
This respiratory protection training video focuses on the use of respirators when working in contaminated environments. Viewers learn about different types of respirators, including those that use chemicals to purify the air, others that supply clean air, and air-filtering respirators.
Viewers learn the importance of correctly wearing a respirator, and how to test for the proper fit. The mask should conform comfortably to your face. You need to be sure there are no gaps between the respirator and face so harmful gases can't get through. The video explains how to check for this by looking into a mirror with the respirator on, look up, down, and side to side to see if there are any gaps between the face piece and your skin. For your safety, OSHA requires workers have either a qualitative or quantitative “fit test” to be sure the respirator fits tightly. This course illustrates how to check the seal, and alerts viewers to potential seal problems. It also emphasizes the importance of cleaning and maintaining respirators.
Contaminated environments can cause bodily damage and even death to unprotected workers. Watch this online training course and learn how to protect yourself by using a respirator.
This course has been updated to include GHS container labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for GHS compliance.
