HAZWOPER: Personal Protective Equipment and Decontamination Procedures
This video explains the importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the decontamination procedures used for working in a hazardous work environment. The course presents the different levels of PPE, and the potential effects the equipment may have on the worker.
PPE are grouped into four levels, A-D, with level A for the most severe situations, where exposure is harmful to your health and can potentially cause death. Level D is for the least severe cases of exposure; level D PPE clothing is worn to protect from splashes or spills. Despite what level PPE clothing one is wearing, PPE should never be worn outside of the contaminated environment.
This online training video demonstrates decontamination procedures. Decontamination procedures are important because after working around hazardous materials PPE clothing must be washed off thoroughly and disposed of if necessary to avoid contamination.
Use this training to provide employees with a better understanding of the importance of wearing Personal Protective Equipment and how PPE functions to keep them safe from hazardous material exposure.
This course has been updated to include GHS container labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for GHS compliance.
