The labels found on HAZMAT containers are a vital source of information about the materials inside and the dangers they present. This is in large part due to OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standards (i.e. the HAZCOM Standard) which gives employees the “right to know” about any hazardous substances present on a job site.
In this course employees learn how HAZMAT information is communicated per OSHA’s requirement to follow the rules set forth in the Globally Harmonized System (GHS). Workers are taught how the goals of the HAZCOM Standard are aligned with the information provided on GHS container labels; both of which enable them to prevent accidents and injuries on the job.
Use this course so all construction and building employees exposed to HAZMATs understand the goals of the HAZCOM Standard, recognize the GHS advantages, and know how the information provided on GHS container labels enables them to work more safely with HAZMATs.
