Overview

Ladder Safety

Nearly one person every day is killed while using a ladder. Although ladders often make it safer and easier to do a job, there are inherent risks to working with them. This training video explains how to select the proper step ladder or straight ladder for the job and inspect the ladder to ensure it is in good working order. It also provides tips on safely transporting ladders and explains consideration to ensure the ladder is set up correctly, including being aware of potential hazards. Ladder safety techniques are demonstrated, including the belt buckle rule to avoid over reaching, using three points of contact when ascending and descending the ladder, and alternative ways to transport tools and equipment up a ladder. Additional ways to stabilize a ladder are discussed.

Ensuring employees use ladders safely, and that they think about the risks ladders pose to themselves and their co-workers, will help keep your workforce safe and productive. This video gives them the tools they need to work wisely with ladders, and tests their understanding with a short quiz.
