Electrostatic Discharge Control Training Program
Everyone has felt an unexpected shock when touching a doorknob or computer screen at times. This shock, called an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), is the release of the electrostatic charge built up through routine actions, such as picking up an object or walking across a carpeted floor. This online training course explains how ESD can damage electronic components, and it shows how to prevent electrostatic discharge— through grounding and by creating ESD protected areas.
In the section on grounding, viewers will learn that electrostatic discharge can be prevented through the use of wrist wraps, heel grounders, and terminals where workers, as well as work surfaces, are connected to the ground. The section on ESD protected areas explains how workers must wear special clothing, such as static dissipative shoes and protective ESD smocks. Also, mobile equipment with conductive wheels, furniture with conductive pads, and ionizers are used to control the generation of static. This course shows what field service engineers can do to prevent electrostatic discharge, such as using a dissipative mat to work on.
Use this course to learn how to protect your sensitive electronic equipment from electrostatic discharge.
