Overview

Bloodborne Pathogens in First Response Environments

The safety of a company and its employees are of great concern for many employers. At least 1 million people have HIV, and one in eight don’t know it, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. First responders put their own personal safety at risk in order to help others. However, the risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens can be mitigated.

This course explores the importance of understanding various bloodborne illnesses, such as HIV and hepatitis, and how first responders may be exposed. This course explains the exposure control plan, ways to reduce exposure, the proper use of personal protection equipment (PPE) to reduce risk, and the importance of vaccinations.

Use this course among your employees and other first responders in order to facilitate a greater awareness of these OSHA regulations and requirements to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible in these types of situations.
