Overview

Lockout Tagout for Authorized Workers

Controlling hazardous energy is commonly referred to as lockout/tagout and is performed exclusively by OSHA-categorized Authorized workers. This course teaches Authorized employees the step-by-step procedures involved in safely and correctly performing lockout tagout.

OSHA requires all sources of hazardous energy be controlled any time machine guards are opened or removed or electrical doors or cover plates are opened or removed. After defining the three types of workers in OSHA’s standard 1910.147 regarding controlling hazardous energy, this course spotlights each critical step Authorized workers must perform in the lockout/tagout process. Collectively, the six lessons in this course (Notify Affected Workers, The Shutdown Process, Lockout Isolation Points, Drain Potential Energy, Verify The Lockout, Returning Equipment To Service) frame workers’ mindset so they stay focused throughout the entire lockout/tagout process.

Use this course to assure all Authorized employees learn how to consistently follow each step of the lockout/tagout procedure for the safety of themselves and their co-workers.
