Gateways to Inclusion
Diverse workplaces bring people of different backgrounds, nationalities, and races together. While this has many advantages, workers may unknowingly say or do something that offends a coworker. This Gateways to Inclusion training course explains how to create better working relationships, gain more understanding, and decrease tension.
Viewers are taught 4 Gateway Skills: manage how you feel; set productive goals; assess intent cautiously; and communicate in a way that demonstrates respect. In the section on assessing intent cautiously, viewers are warned to not jump to conclusions regarding a coworker’s motive. This section illustrates how what came across as racism was in reality an honest mistake. This course suggests talking privately with a coworker to discuss concerns increases understanding and contributes to a more inclusive work environment.
