This video explains the Transportation Security Administration and U.S. Coast Guard’s requirements for TWIC credentialing. It reviews the differences between restricted areas and secure areas as well as required access controls. Passenger, public and employee access areas are described and examples are provided. Escorted and unescorted access is explained, and viewers learn when side-by-side escorting is mandated and when electronic monitoring is acceptable. The training explains who needs to hold a TWIC, what a TWIC looks like, what security and biometric features are incorporated on a TWIC, and how security personnel verify a TWIC is authentic and in the possession of the correct party. Viewers learn what to do if they are presented with a potentially fraudulent TWIC, or if a TWIC is lost, damaged or stolen. Coast Guard inspection procedures relative to TWICs are discussed, and the importance of remembering your personal identification number is emphasized.
This video is presented in two units, each followed by a brief quiz to ensure the viewer understands the key points. The training helps maritime workers understand their vital role in keeping vessels and facilities safe.
