Working with hazardous materials or chemicals in a laboratory poses certain risks. These risks can be minimized by teaching employees working with hazardous substances to read the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) of a chemical before using it. The MSDS contain OSHA required data on the hazards of using a specific chemical.
This online video training course discusses the different types of data found within the MSDS. This data includes health hazards, appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and spill, leak and disposal measures. This video course illustrates the importance of knowing what substances a chemical reacts with, other common names for chemicals and how to properly ship a hazardous substance. This information can be useful in preventing explosive or toxicological risks.
This online course teaches workers to read and understand the important information contained in Material Safety Data Sheets. Knowing how to properly utilize MSDS helps employees minimize dangerous laboratory accidents by creating a safer work environment.
