Hazard Communication: Introduction to GHS (The Globally Harmonized System)

This training video gives the viewer a detailed introduction to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for classifying and labeling hazardous chemicals. By showcasing the history and background of the GHS, this training explains the protective measures supported by the OHSA Hazard Communication standard and GHS.

GHS deals with hazardous chemical classifications, and this video provides the viewer specific examples for each health and physical hazard, along with instructions for hazard evaluation. Explaining the process of classifications of the GHS, live-action examples help the viewer understand the system further. This training also explains the GHS data sheet in detail, citing examples as to how it is both different and similar to other available data sheets.

This training shows video examples of labeling (text and pictogram) when it comes to hazardous chemicals, as well as information for safety when dealing with the specific chemicals at hand. The main goal of this training is to give the viewer as many steps as possible to create a safe and functional work environment when dealing with hazardous chemicals.
