Back Safety: Stepback for Safety SeriesNew online back safety course uses interactive video to teach proper back care and back safety.

For immediate release

NOVI, Mich. - Mastery announces a new interactive training course called “Back Safety: Stepback for Safety”. The interactive training program, produced by Moxie Media, a leading producer of safety training videos for the general, maritime, and offshore oil industries—is available on Web, Intranet, or CD.

This Back Safety training will show your workers the techniques used to prevent wear and tear on the back; and will help them understand why these methods actually do work for them!

Training describes how the back functions and stresses the importance of avoiding bad postures, using improper lifting methods, or even being hunched over the computer for long time periods.

The course also demonstrates methods for lifting, bending, and reaching that will help keep your back safe. Once workers know more about the back, they are then prepared to take care of it through exercise, stretching, and working in neutral postures.

Lesson interactions provide opportunities for the worker to apply what he or she has learned. To ensure the promise of mastering all course objectives, each missed question is followed by a review of the specific content. At the end of each lesson’s quiz, the learner’s attention is focused on areas of difficulty until he or she can successfully demonstrate mastery. This course covers will measure the learner’s mastery of the following objectives:

  • Understand back injuries.
  • Discuss why prevention is the best “cure” for back injuries.
  • Describe a sprain.
  • List causes of back injuries.
  • Prevent prevention through stretching and posture relief.
  • Define the neutral posture.
  • Identify the safe vertical work zone.
  • Describe warm-up stretches.
  • Identify posture relief exercises.
  • Use safe lifting techniques.
  • Explain why proper lifting is essential to avoid back injuries.
  • Recognize that reaching adds to the stress on your shoulders and back.
  • Agree that it is your responsibility to keep you back safe.
  • Recall that you must remain aware of your body position during work

As in most courses offered by Mastery Technologies, Inc., questions are fully narrated, adding welcome support for learners with reading skill deficits. Narration also assists learners when English is their second language.

Mastery’s exclusive Follow-up Review, standard in all Mastery Advantage courses, provides time-delayed reinforcement and review of the learner’s newly acquired knowledge. The Follow-up Review enhances the transfer of knowledge to the learner’s long-term memory. Mastery awards .075 Continuing Education Units (CEUS) to workers who complete this program.
